Apple and its display suppliers have reportedly started development of OLED panels for the iPad and MacBook.

ETNews reports that LG Display and Samsung Display have received orders to develop two types of OLED panels for the iPad and MacBook. The OLED panel sizes for the iPad are 10.86-inches and 12.9-inches, while the panel sizes for the MacBook are 14.0-inches and 16.0-inches.

According to ETNews, the OLED iPad is expected to launch in 2024 and the OLED MacBook is slated to arrive in 2026. The predicted timeline is slightly different from other reports. Display analyst Ross Young claims the OLED iPad will launch in 2024 and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the OLED MacBook could arrive as early as end 2024.

Apple's ultimate goal is to use its own microLED screens on its key products. MicroLED will debut on the Apple Watch Ultra in end 2024 before coming to the iPhone a few years later.
