Apple expected to unveil mixed reality headset before WWDC
Apple is said to be pushing back the announcement of its mixed reality headset to spring.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple plans to unveil the mixed reality headset ahead of WWDC in June. Apple initially planned to unveil the mixed reality headset this month, but it still has several issues related to hardware, software and services to fix. The mixed reality headset is expected to ship later in the fall.
Gurman says the mixed reality headset is already seeded to some high-profile software developers for testing. The mixed reality headset is tentatively called Reality Pro, and will run on a new platform known as xrOS.
The Information reported a few days ago that the mixed reality headset would be powered by a waist-mounted battery and have a Digital Crown to toggle between the virtual and physical world. Apple is rumoured to price the mixed reality headset at around US$3,000.
