NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Launches on 18th October, GeForce GTX 1050 Launches on 26th October – GTX 1050 SE Rumored Too

Hassan Mujtaba

NVIDIA launch schedule for their upcoming GeForce GTX 1050 series graphics cards has leaked. HWBattle has posted the expected launch dates for the GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 graphics card. The GTX 1050 cards will be the first to utilize the GP107 GPU core which is based on the 16nm Pascal architecture.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GeForce GTX 1050 Launch Dates Leaked

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GeForce GTX 1050 will bring Pascal cores to the masses. Being affordable and under the sub-$149 range, these cards will deliver the great efficiency that Pascal offers on the high-end cards such as GTX 1070 and GTX 1080. We have known the specifications for a while but never really got to know the exact launch dates for these cards, although we are aware that launch is going to take place this month.

NVIDIA’s Pascal GPUs are the most advanced and the most efficient FinFET based chips made to date.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti – Expected Price of $149 US, October 18th Launch

The GTX 1050 Ti features 768 CUDA Cores. This would mean we are looking at 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. As for clock speeds, we are looking at 1318 MHz core and 1380 MHz boost clock which is around a 250 MHz jump over the GM107 GPU. This increases the texture fill rate up to 84 GTexel/s (almost twice of GM107). The card should also feature up to 4 GB GDDR5 memory clocked at 7 GHz. This gives us 112 GB/s bandwidth along the narrow 128-bit bus interface.

This would mean we are looking at 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. As for clock speeds, we are looking at 1290 MHz base and 1392 MHz boost clock which is around a 250 MHz jump over the GM107 GPU. This increases the texture fill rate up to 82.5 GTexel/s (almost twice of GM107). The pixel fill rate is maintained at 41.3 GPixel/s. The device ID for the chip is 1C82 and has the A1 revision. The leaker used a card that was made by NVIDIA AIB, Colorful. We can expect this variant to be custom cooled but sticks to the reference clock speeds.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti PCB Shots and Analysis:

Videocardz has obtained the first photos of the GP107 GPU core. This core measures around 150mm2 and hence is really small. The card that we are looking at features 4 GB GDDR5 memory and comes with a very impressive board that packs a 3+1 Phase design. This looks to be a board designed by Chinese graphics manufacturer, Colorful. Since this is a custom PCB design, it comes with a 6 Pin power connector, although connectors on this card won't be a necessity as it has a TDP of 75W.

The power connectors makes sure that the board is supplied extra power for stability and overclocking. We have heard that the card could reach overclocks around 1.5 to 1.6 GHz. Performance numbers of a stock variant can be seen here.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 – Expected Price of $119 US, October 26th Launch

Moving on to the next variant, we have the GTX 1050. The non-Ti variant is expected to feature a cut down GP107 core. It will have a few bits disabled here and there, along with lower clocks. This will mean lower power requirements, pushing it down to sub-75W. This model will be available in 2 GB base model. Priced at $119 US, this model can be a effective solution against the Radeon RX 460 which has the same price point.

The GeForce GTX 1050 would launch a week after GTX 1050 Ti on 26th of October. The card will be ready with several custom models, just like its bigger brother and would offer some good competition in the entry level market.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 SE / GTX 1040 In The Works Too?

If you were thinking that GP107 GPU would only be featured on two cards, there's a good possibility that you would be wrong. It turns out that Chinese leakers are expecting a third GP107 variant known as either the GTX 1050 SE or GTX 1040 to hit the market relatively soon. There's no tentative release date but the card is said to feature 512 CUDA cores, a 128-bit memory interface with 2 GB memory and a price of $99 US. This card will have very low power requirements and the price range could be even lower considering the cut down iteration of the core.

Entry level GPUs are essential to expand the PC user base and DIY market.

It remains to be seen whether such a card would launch but we have seen most leaks coming in from China based sources turning out true.
